Filters that stay
Each folder keeps its filter when you come back to it, and connections use updated, more secure libraries.
Improved
- Filters stay put. Filter a folder, open one of the results and go back: the filter is still there, and so is the shorter list.
Fixed
- Security updates. Kelp's connections to S3, R2 and Hetzner use updated libraries that fix known security issues.
Room for long paths
Deep folders no longer push the toolbar buttons out of the window.
Improved
- Small windows. When the window is narrow, the toolbar shows just the folder you're in, like Finder.
Fixed
- Long folder paths fit. In deep folders, earlier folders in the path shorten with "…" so the one you're in stays readable, and the filter and buttons stay put. Hover any folder in the path to see its full name.
Feels at home on your Mac
Kelp now looks and behaves more like a Mac app, with transfers one click away in the toolbar.
New
- Transfers in the toolbar. A transfers button next to Refresh shows progress at a glance. Click it to see every upload, download and copy, and click anywhere else to close it.
Improved
- More like a Mac app. A frosted sidebar, the normal arrow cursor, and no stray text selection or web menus.
- A calmer light theme. Light mode uses cool greys instead of a warm sand tint.
- Refresh you can see. The refresh button spins while the folder reloads, and the status bar says when it's done.
- Know what a delete will remove. Deleting a folder now tells you how many files are inside before you confirm.
Updates, quietly
Kelp now tells you about updates without getting in your way.
New
- Update ready. When a new version has downloaded, a small "Update ready" shows at the end of the status bar. Click it to see what's new or restart to update.
Improved
- Finds updates sooner. Kelp checks every 30 minutes while it's open, and again when you come back to it after a while.
- What's new on the website. Every version now has its own notes at kelp.ozanai.dev/whats-new, one click from the update card.
Back where you were
Kelp now remembers where you were in each folder.
New
- Back where you were. Go into a folder and back out, and the list is exactly where you left it, however many files it holds.
Improved
- Folders open instantly. Folders you've visited this session appear at once, then refresh quietly in the background.
The first release
The first release of Kelp.
New
- S3, R2 and Hetzner in one app. Browse, upload, download, copy and move files across Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2 and Hetzner Object Storage.
- Keys behind Touch ID. Your secret keys stay in the macOS Keychain, unlocked with Touch ID once per launch.
- Fast, resumable transfers. Big files go up and down in parallel parts, pause and resume, and pick up where they stopped after a restart.
- Updates itself. Kelp is signed and notarised by Apple and installs new versions with one click.
